An epic number of over 4,20,000 COVID 19 tests have been conducted in India in the last 24 hours. This number comes on the heels of 3,50,000 tests which were done daily over the last one week. Almost 1.6 cr samples have been tested so far, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
One reason for this milestone is the whopping increase in the number of labs from just one in January 2020 to 1301 today, inclusive of 902 government labs and 399 in the private sector.
Happily, as many as 32,223 COVID patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of recovered cases has reached 8,49,431 today. The recovery rate has peaked another high of 63.54%.
As of now, the mortality due to COVID-19 has fallen to 2.35% which means India has one of the lowest fatality rates in the world.
